Website Collapses

We tried to install Moodle at the NCB site. The website collapsed and we had to install a backup from Saturday. We are blessed in that the hosting company backs up twice each day.

Our next move will be to set up Moodle at a new location. Keep checking back.

It's a week later and our equipment is now prepared for the installation. Hopefully, we will get it done this week.

The advantages of taking classes on line are many.

Student study hours can be more flexible, giving employment advantages.

The cost of commuting and the travel time will be reduced or eliminated, depending on the class taken.

Both teachers and students can make progress during times of ill health.

Overall, the online classes should provide an option for those wanting to learn more about the Word of God.

Tomorrow was the day to install Moodle on our server in Phoenix, but a major equipment failure at home is causing that to be postponed for a few days. But the delay is temporary. Stay tuned.

CMS Selected

We have selected the Moodle Course Management System. It is in use around the world. Some numbers are illuminating:

  • There are more then 6,000,000 users at present.
  • There are more than 1,000,000 teachers now.
  • One college offers more than 12,000 courses on line.
  • That small school alone has more than 42,000 students enrolled.
  • The System can utilize more than 60 languages

We are ahead of schedule with development for NCB. There will be an opening page available by October 10th.

Where We're Headed

Our goal is to establish classes online, both for credit and non-credit students. We hope to be fully operational by July of 2008. Presently we are examining Course Management Systems (CMS) for delivering information to online learners in both English and other languages.

Teachers with special areas of interest as well as current faculty members will be the instructors.
